The Coppa San Geo continues to be a cornerstone of the Italian cycling calendar, marking the official start of the national season for U23 and elite riders. Now in its 101st edition, the prestigious race took place on February 22, 2025, providing young talents with a golden opportunity to showcase their abilities in front of teams, managers, and cycling enthusiasts.
Often dubbed the “Milano-Sanremo for amateurs” the Coppa San Geo is renowned for its demanding and technical course. This year, riders tackled a grueling 164.6 km route from Ponte San Marco in Calcinato to Padenghe sul Garda. The course was filled with hilly and challenging segments, testing the endurance and strategic capabilities of the competitors.
The race brought together 184 ambitious riders, all eager to leave a mark in one of the most anticipated early-season events in Italian cycling. The atmosphere was electric, with spectators lining the streets, reinforcing the event’s significance in the local and national cycling community.
After an intense battle on the roads, it was Matteo Ambrosini of MBH Bank Ballan CSB who emerged victorious, securing his spot as the first winner of the 2025 Italian cycling season. He managed to hold off a strong challenge from Cristian Remelli (General Store-Essegibi-F.lli Curia), who finished in second place. The final spot on the podium was taken by Remelli’s teammate, Giovanni Bortoluzzi, capping off a strong team performance for General Store.
Among the competitors were our very own RightRide testimonials, Tommaso and Gabriele Bessega, representing Team Biesse Carrera Premac. Both twins were active throughout the race, demonstrating their growing potential in the Italian cycling scene.
Gabriele, in particular, was a key player in one of the decisive breakaways of the day. As the race unfolded, he showed great determination, positioning himself among the front riders in the final kilometers. His aggressive riding style and tactical awareness made him a standout competitor, proving that he is a name to watch in the coming races of the season.

Beyond the competition, the Coppa San Geo serves as an important gathering for cycling fans and the local community. The event brings an unmatched vibrancy to the region, with supporters, family members, and cycling enthusiasts coming together to celebrate the sport they love.
With the 2025 edition now behind us, young riders will shift their focus to the upcoming races on the Italian calendar. For Tommaso and Gabriele Bessega the season has just begun, and we are excited to see what the future holds for these talented twins.
Stay tuned for more updates on their journey with RightRide!
